Water.. The essential nutrient
I meet a lot of people out there that refuse to drink their daily recommended amount of water. They complain that it’s so boring and a chore to drink. Next time you reach for that afternoon cup of coffee keep this in mind.
Each day the body loses up to 1 quart of water from the kidneys and skin, about 1cup from the lungs, and 1/2 cup from feces- a total of 6 to 10 cups. To replace the water lost, males need to consume about 15 cups and women about 11 cups.
Water is involved in every function of the body; it helps transport nutrients and waste products in and out of cells. It is also needed for all digestive, circulatory, absorptive and excretory functions. If your body is low on water it will let you know. Common signs are chronic headaches, fatigue, dark urine, brain fog and constipation. Here is an easy recipe to make drinking water more appealing. You will need a water container that has a lid, preferably a glass container.
1 tablespoon fresh crushed mint leaves
1/2 an orange sliced
2 lemon wedges
2 cups of filtered water
Add all of your ingredients. Close the lid, shake and enjoy.
